Clear Al Ahly hurdle to heighten status

TANZANIA envoys in the continental level football tournaments must have learnt well that nothing short of hard work, thorough planning and extra efforts play a vital role towards the desired goals.

Following their stellar performance in both CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup our envoys must now start preparing for their next matches, Simba are to face Al Ahly of Egypt while Namungo are pitted against the Angolan side Plimeiro de Agosto.

Both encounters are crucial for the teams and the country as the success can make the country proud in the 2021 season as the pep talk is over now.

Simba who eliminated FC Platinum of  Mozambique by 4-1 aggregate win, have grabbed a ticket to play in the CAF Champions League  group stage and their start was very rewarding as they defeated AS Vita of Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 in their first group A match in Kinshasa.

The second side; Namungo FC kicked out Al Ahly El Obeid of Sudan before booking a ticket to play in CAF Confederation Cup against the Angolan side.

To avoid this season’s hoodoo, our teams ought to have had lengthy time to hone their skills for the looming events, so it is our belief that they are up to the challenge.

Simba’s next opponents Al Ahly are very tough and well drilled, but we believe Simba can overcome their threat if they seriously work hard and avoid mistakes if they really want to overcome the Egyptian hurdle.

We would like to warn our envoys to be serious as competitors so that they end the North African monopoly when it comes to the continental level events.

Players in the teams should strive to demonstrate their skills at both individual and teamwork basis, since the ongoing continental level tournaments also serve as a good market for talented players.

We don’t have to think much to see what the country reaped from the 2019-20 season, as the country’s performance in the both Champions League and the Confederation Cup tells it all.

We would again insist the players engaged in the tournaments to work hard for their teams and themselves as we have witnessed that football pays handsomely as an entertaining source of income.

We end up by wishing our envoys all the best in their coming continental level tournaments.
