TANZANIA Aviation Authority (TAA) has donated 15 tonnes to Mpanda Rural Constituency in Katavi to facilitate the construction of class rooms and dispensaries in the area.
The aviation authority extended its hand to the constituency since it was its partto return to the community to amplify government’s efforts to improve education and health sectors.
Mpanda Airport Manager, Jeff Shantiwa, who represented TAA General Manager, said the gesture was part of its corporate social responsibility to return benefits to the communities.
“Initially TAA had issued similar donation to Mpanda Urban and NsimboConstituents respectively and this timearound extended the donation to Mpanda Rural,” he added.
Mr Shantiwa urged the leaders from the precincts to ensure that the donation was not diverted into other use but only to the intended purposes. Secretary of Member of Parliament for Mpanda Rural Constituency,Frank Kibigas lauded the TAA for timely issuing of donation calling other development stakeholders to borrow leaf from the aviation authority.
“Schools in this area are afflicting with dire shortage of classrooms and furniture forcing students to sit on floors or studying in school’s compounds under the shed of trees.
The donation will somewhat address this set back” explained Kibigas.
