TANGA Cement (Simba Cement) has scooped the National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) International Award after several attempts in the last three years.
The NOSA is the South Africa's leading provider of occupational health, safety and environmental training solutions which was launched in 1951 by the South African government to reduce injuries and fatalities at workplace.
Tanga Cement Managing Director, Reinhardt Stuart said the award winning is a big achievement especially after they managed to retain its place in the "Distinguished Class" of NOSA awarded companies in systems implementation".
"This is safety record for Tanga Cement. It is a big achievement for not usonly as a NOSA International Award winner but also as the firstNational Occupational Safety Companies Award Recognition (NOSCAR)awarded company, which is the highest NOSA accolade grading," Mr Stuartsaid.
The NOSA Award programmes which involves smalland large companies based within and outside of South Africa. Tanga Cement has been participating in the programme actively implementing it for the past three consecutive years and winning the award in its fourth of implementation.
Tanga Cement emerged the second winner in the northern region—D3 Sector Industrial Category in 2019/20 and the following year became the overall winner and also attempted NOSCAR.
The main objective for the NOSA Awards program is to assist clients inlimiting hazards in workplace, while at the same time ensuring that asthe clients, they are willing,able and ready to effectively prevent andtackle and all emergencies situations that may arise at the workplace.
