PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to grace The Dream Concert organised to commemorate 30 years of music career of Joseph Mbilinyi 'Sugu' .
The concert pegged on May 31st at Selena Hotel in Dar es Salaam will be attended by other high profile figures including ambassadors and key officials from public and private sectors.
At a press briefing on Monday, Sugu elaborated that the concert will be performed by a Live Band and that a lot of renowned artistes have been invited to take part and act as an encouragement to the young generation.
"The main purpose of this concert is to celebrate my music career and contributions I have made to the growth of the country's music industry and also to urge youths to keep dreaming of big things and work hard to fulfill them.
"To make this a glamorous event, invitees only will have access with a decent dressing style because those we expect to turn up are high profile people hence we want to give it the deserved status," he said.
Giving his brief background, Sugu narrated that he was a vendor before becoming a watchman saying the proceeds he was getting as a watchman was being channeled to pay for studio costs where he used to record his music.
"Because I had a dream of reaching far, I kept pushing forward without letting discouragements ruin my dreams and with discipline plus determination, here I am today.
"This is what the young generation out there should emulate if they really would like to succeed in their music industry. Without dreaming and working hard for the dreams, nobody can manage to achieve great things in life," he said.
Again, the former Mbeya City parliamentarian disclosed that the coming of foreign ambassadors will help to advertise the country's music abroad.
On her part, renowned Bongo Flava artiste Judith Wambura 'Lady Jay Dee’ who will be among the performers on the day hailed Sugu for coming up with this concert saying it will help to inspire many upcoming artistes.
"I was personally being inspired by Sugu songs and to a large extent, he has helped me a lot to reach where I am today and on behalf of other artistes, we are ready to give him full support on the day," she remarked.
