Abide by Ujamaa principles, Chongolo challenges young leaders

CHAMA cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretary General, Daniel Chongolo, on Wednesday challenged young leaders to abide by the principles of Ujamaa ideology, while implementing their daily activities and ensure that people in their areas have access basic rights peacefully.

Mr Chongolo made the call while launching a ten-day training to 120 youth cadres from six Southern African countries with the aimed of building their capacity on different current issues in their countries.

The training is taking  place at Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership College in Kibaha Town and the six parties participating in the training are African National Congress (ANC), Chama Cha Mapinduzi ( CCM), Zimbabwe African National Union ( ZANU- PF), MPLA of Angola and South Western Peoples Organisation ( SWAPO) and  FRELIMO- ( Mozambique).

“There are so many issues going on in our countries which require attention of the youth and interests directly or indirectly… and one of them is the ongoing revolutions in science and technology fields.  It is your duty to use the education you will get here and become the agents of positive changes in your countries, and help transform the lives of your fellow youth," he noted.

He thanked Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for sponsoring the training, pointing out that the outcome will transform not only the lives of youth, but also other individuals in respective countries while strengthening relationships between China and those six African countries.

As part of the training, participants are expected to visit Mozambique freedom fighters site in Morogoro region and learn the history of freedom struggles in the southern part of the continent.

For her part, a Member of CCM National Executive Committee (NEC) through Youth (Coast Region), Ms Khadija Khalid, said the training focuses on looking at major changes in science and technology in the world today and how youth can benefit from them.
