YOUNG Africans’ presidential post aspirant Hersi Said he is contesting for the hot seat so as to execute his commitment to push the club to the higher levels than it is now.
He said this at a press briefing with Vice President’s post contender Haji Arafat yesterday ahead of the General Elections at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam this Saturday.
He said once given the mandate to serve as the club's president, infrastructural development will be among his first priorities saying it is a shame to see a big club of Yanga caliber lacking adequate infrastructure.
"Let me promise Yanga fans that once elected, I will begin procedures to build a 20,000-capacity stadium at Kaunda ground, Jangwani street in Dar es Salaam.
"This is the place where our team used to train and we have our own building as such; it has enough space for a 20,000 capacity stadium. The stipulated capacity is an average of our fans who turn up at our normal games excluding the match against Simba.
"If we can construct the stadium, then we will have a chance to host 90 percent of our league home matches there that is why we have seen that a 20,000- capacity venue will be enough," he said.
Adding, Hersi pointed out that the logic behind constructing the stadium at Kaunda ground is accessibility of the place saying it is well-positioned at the centre of the city, meaning that people from various areas can reach there without difficulties.
Furthermore, Hersi said plans are underway to construct training facilities at the club's plot in Kigamboni while insisting that the building at the headquarters of the club will be further improved to accommodate the entire team.
He also said transformation will be his second agenda in office if given the green light to work as president while promising that he will continue with transformation works to ensure that the club embrace modern ways of operation.
"We are going to make proper valuation of our club to get clear value and thereafter we can begin procedures to sell our shares to those eligible," he said.
Again, he said he will ensure financial stability of the club is uplifted saying he will create an enabling environment to attract sponsors and that under his leadership, cheerful moments for the club fraternity will be maintained.
He also reiterated that he will support the club's junior teams including Yanga Princes to be among the top teams in the country and that the Under-17 and Under-20 sides should feed players to the senior team.
