Airtel donates textbooks, computers to UDOM

The donation is part of Airtel's corporate social responsibility activities. The University of Dodoma (UDOM) has received from Airtel of 104  textbooks worth 10m/-  and 20 computers for IT students worth about 15m/- during the event held at Dodoma university and attended by Bahi District Commissioner Ms Betty Mkwasa who was the chief guest.

The DC commended Airtel for their valuable support to UDOM and implored the students to make use of equipment donated. "Today Airtel has demonstrated their care for the society here at Dodoma University; I kindly ask that we join hands with them to serve the society," she said.
Airtel  Public Relations Manager, Mr Jackson Mmbando said;  "We are delighted to extend our support to UDOM students through textbooks and computers, Airtel involvement today is part of our own way of giving back to the community that we serve".
"Airtel is highly committed towards supporting Tanzanian community, since we started our educational support programme for schools and universities seven years ago; we have reached more than 800  institustions,"  added Mr Mmbando.

"On the other hand UDOM Vice Chancellor Professor Idrisa Kikula said. "the support has come at the right time, as we are really in need of textbooks and computers," he said. The University of Dodoma was opened in 2007 and it has more and bigger libraries than any other university in the country. Currently, the university accommodates 20,000 students and the number is projected to grow to 40,000 in the near future.
