Barclays says getting stronger

Mr Maina said this at a “Career Talk and Make a Difference Day” held at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) Business School, over the weekend. “We are actually growing stronger without those branches,” he said. The event brought together dozens of second and third year students of UDSM Business School.

It was aimed at inspiring students to join the banking industry or become self-employed after their university studies. “After today’s talk you can find what kind of career you can take at Barclays. Our bank needs people with integrity, good character and willing to assist customers,” Mr Maina told the students. He said Barclays started its operations in Tanzania in 1925, but was nationalised in 1967. It came back in October 2000.

The UDSM Business School Career Manager, Mr Bernard Lazaro, told the students that the event was expected to be a win-win venture. The Barclays Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Ms Tunu Kavishe, said the bank will continue to cooperate with the society and advised the students to understand what to do in their future.
