Go, Ngorongoro Heroes, go

Go, Ngorongoro Heroes, go

The first round match of the continental showpiece will take place at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam  on Saturday with the return leg taking place in Khartoum, Sudan two weeks later. Heroes coach Kim Poulsen is buzzing with confidence, highly believing in the youngsters’ ability to deliver.

Should the Tanzanian youngsters manoeuvre their way past Sudan, the task ahead looks even tougher as they face a potential second round clash with West African soccer giants, Nigeria. Nonetheless, this is yet another opportunity for Ngorongoro Heroes to try and go a step further having been eliminated in the second round of the 2010 qualifiers by Ivory Coast.

Despite showing some industrious football during the campaign, the Heroes saw their hopes of reaching the first African finals going up on smoke after settling to a 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast in their return leg match in August 2010. The team had conceded a 1-0 defeat away in Abidjan in a first leg tie, and was in need of nothing short of a clear victory against the ‘Junior Elephants’ at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, but failed to live to their billing.

It is, however, a fact that Heroes face apparently yet another tough road in the qualifiers and nothing but thorough preparations will boost the team’s campaigns. To ensure their passage, the team would have to fire on all cylinders and forget about past results.

Players should be reminded that getting good results does not come under silver platter. They should stay focused as the whole nation will be behind them. They need to put up a spirited fight to post good result at home, which will give them advantage ahead of the return leg tie. We can assure the players and their coaches of our full support and backing through out the contest.

Again, it’s also a chance for our players to prove and market themselves because that is definitely among the many positives that the competition promises. In this task, Ngorongoro Heroes are wished the best of luck in the competition. We have every reason to believe that our team will go places.

THIS week the government came up with good news ...
